System Mapping – Zone Layout

A major hurdle with commercial irrigation systems is due to the fact that every irrigation system is different as every landscape and property is different.  We seldom encounter properties where any sort of original plans exist.  This equates to a laundry list of unknown variables such as:

"Where is water meter, is it a dedicated irrigation meter or more than one for the entire property?"

There could be several irrigation meters.

"Where is the backflow devise, is there more than one, where are they located?"

This is not always clear.

---

"Where is the controller, outside somewhere, mechanical room, or office, is there more than one controller and if so which controller controls which zones, is the controller locked?"

---

"How many zones is the system, what type of zones are they, and where are the valves located?"

The list of variables is in fact quite long but in short there is a learning curve for every system.  Like any learning curve they take time to overcome and time is money.  The larger the system the greater the learning curve.  From one year to the next technicians will not remember the unique features of every property's system.
