Even if your commercial property or properties do not fall under the SAWS criteria for having to perform an annual irrigation checkup it is highly recommended you do. Many clients turn their systems off during the winter months and it is common for components to have failed, heads become out of alignment, nozzles have become clogged and any damage or failed parts will quickly become apparent during your irrigation tune-up.
Our Irrigation Tune-Up Process Includes:
- Inspecting the backflow device for leaks and standing water in the valve box.
- Ensure the shut off valve is not seized up in the event of a main line break.
- Test the master valve is closing as it should be and is not leaking.
- Checking for leaks in the main line and lateral lines.
- Ensure all zones are coming on and turning off correctly.
- Raise any heads that no longer reach above the turf line.
- Lower any heads that are at risk from lawn mowers.
- Replace any valve box lids that are missing.
- Check all spray nozzles for proper pattern and alignment.
- Replace heads or nozzles as required.
- Adjust rotors and rotators for proper arc, alignment and throw.
- Inspect for low pressure and excessive high pressure.
- Check visible valve boxes for standing water to confirm valves are water tight.
- Confirm that no heads are weeping water (this is an indication a valve is not seating).
- Inspect the rain sensor for proper operation.
- Replace the controller back up battery if it is beyond it’s useful life.
- Confirm the controller is programmed with a proper schedule.
- If you are a new customer and do not have one of our custom schedules with zone locations, run times, and seasonal adjustments then we will provide you with one. Your technician will email this to the address on the work order in PDF format along with your invoice.
- If you would like a water cost analysis created for your watering schedule, please let us know ahead of time. After your system has been fine tuned it only takes an extra 20 to 30 minutes to collect the data necessary to produce a report for your system. For more information on this please check out:
If during your tune-up we discover substantial repairs and parts are necessary, we will provide you with an itemized quote explaining the problem(s) and recommended course of action for your review.
